Due to the recent changes, the President’s Volunteer Service Award’s office will require three pieces of data for each Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. The American Veterans Mission’s staff must now confirm that volunteers have all of this information before recommending them for a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The recipient is a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident. Reviewing one’s social security card, passport, or green card will suffice as verification.
The recipient is not a registered sex offender. It is crucial that all Lifetime Achievement Award recipients exhibit characteristics that honor the Office of the President of the United States; therefore, one should not be listed on the National Sex Offender Registry.
Our staff will now need to provide 3-5 sentences as to how the recipient earned the Lifetime Achievement Award.
If you have any questions or concerns prior to submitting your Lifetime Achievement Award certification to the American Veterans Mission or other certifying organizations (CO), please email us at admin@avmartinez.us or at support@pointsoflight.org.
As of October 12, 2023, we have 152 military families registered, leaving 48 spots. Please register at https://my.operationhomefront.org/ if you are a military/veteran family residing in the central Texas area and could benefit from this excellent program.
Many thanks to Operation Homefront as the host organization, TexasA&M University-Central Texas as the venue provider, Walmart, Kohl’s, Girl Scouts Troops 20301 and 6300, and Irreverent Warriors for your partnerships and for making this event a success. Together, everyone achieves more!
The American Veterans Mission is thrilled to announce our recent partnership with Kohl’s and Taskforce Uplift just in time for 2023 Veterans Day. Our initial collaboration will allow us to impart up to 50 refurbished laptops to veteran students in our local community.
If you are a military veteran who is currently taking courses at any university AND resides in Killeen, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Nolanville, or Belton, Texas, please e-mail us at admin@avmartinez.us for more information. The laptops will be on a first-come, first-served basis (until exhausted) for qualified military veteran students.
The added expense of the holiday season can be challenging for some military families. We recognize that many military families are separated during this time due to deployments, and others travel long distances to be together. Holiday Meals for Military is Operation Homefront’s and our community partners’ way of saying: “Thank You for your service and sacrifices that you have made for our country!”
Register here (a new tab will open) to get your designated time to pick up all the fixings for a traditional holiday meal. Your military ID and registration confirmation will be required to pick up. Sorry, neighbors and friends cannot pick up on your behalf, so please plan accordingly.
You may bring your kids to this family-friendly event! The event will be on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Texas A&M University-Central Texas, 1001 Leadership Place, Killeen, Texas 76549. Please arrive at or near your designated time slot to pick up your holiday fixings. Happy Holidays!
What a fantastic way to spend the weekend! On August 26, 2023, our CEO and selected teammates participated in the Back-to-School Brigade event hosted by Operation Homefront at Texas A&M University-Central Texas. We aimed to serve 239 military family members to help them ease the burden of paying for school supplies, and guess what? Our CEO worked with us while wearing his Zelinksky shirt from Ukraine!
The Back-to-School Brigade® is an annual nationwide campaign by Operation Homefront that collects and distributes school supplies to eligible dependents of service members. Military children receive free back-to-school supplies, including backpacks, through this assistance program to help them start the new school year on the right foot. The program has been successful since its inception, with Operation Homefront distributing over 500,000 backpacks to military children, saving military families nearly $55M in school expenses. This program is a crucial resource for military families facing financial hardship or other challenges as they navigate the back-to-school season.
Huge thanks and shout-out to American Veterans Mission, Girl Scouts of Central Texas Troops #20301 & #6300, and Texas A&M University-Central Texas for providing a safe venue to work together to serve our military communities. Special thanks to Ms. Tetyana Quiles Poboyko for our CEO’s #Zelinsky shirt from #ukraine, Mrs. Janie Ann Freed for leading her troops, and Mr. Brennan Avants for ensuring we had what we needed to make this Killeen program successful. Together, everyone achieves more!
