We are an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) section 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization founded in Killeen, Texas on January 2, 2018. The IRS further classified our organization as a public charity under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) 170(b)(1)(A)(vi). Together, everyone achieves more!
Continuous engagement with our local community leaders is essential in the initial diagnostic studies, constraints analysis, project planning via asset-based community development, and promoting our local leaders and businesses.
We want to thank the central Texas MOAA chapter for inviting our leadership team to their luncheon at Let’s Eat Texas on February 17, 2023. It was an excellent camaraderie with Colonel (Ret, US Army) Keith Sledd providing informational and valuable updates about our communities. Together, Everyone Achieves More!

The American Veterans Mission‘s team wants to congratulate Mr. William Britt and Mr. Kevin Martin for earning the US President’s Volunteer Service Award (PSVA) Silver level.
In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the PVSA to recognize the vital role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too.
The PVSA has continued under each administration, honoring the volunteers using their time and talents to solve some of the toughest challenges facing our nation. The current US President noted in his letter accompanying the award to these gentlemen: “By sharing your time and passion, you are helping discover and deliver solutions to the challenges we face – solutions that we need now more than ever. We live in a moment that calls for hope, light, and love. Hope for our futures, light to see our way forward, and love for one another. Through your service, you are providing all three.”
Congratulations! Thank you for serving your communities, William and Kevin. Together, everyone achieves more!
The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service is a defining moment each year when Americans across the country step up to make communities more equitable and take action to create the Beloved Community of Dr. King’s dream. While Dr. King believed the Beloved Community was possible, he acknowledged and fought for systemic change. His example is our call to action.
MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. During the last quarter century, the MLK Day of Service has grown, and its impact increased as more Americans embraced the idea that citizenship involves taking an active role in improving communities.
On Monday, January 16, and the days surrounding, American Veterans Mission, AmeriCorps, and the Killeen Service Platoon invite you to:
Engage with your community and create constructive action;
Act on Dr. King’s legacy of social justice and equity; and
Recommit by volunteering to serve others. You can clean up a public space, mentor a young person, or help those who are food insecure.
We cordially invite you to volunteer with us locally by signing up for our volunteer opportunity scheduled on January 16, 2023, at Carl Levin Park. Please click this link to view and sign up for this volunteer or community service opportunity.
Together, we can strengthen ties to our communities and one another while we address critical issues that divide us.
